Small World

Recently I posted a thread here wanting to trade a few coins to complete my Kook and Britannia collections. I arrived at a deal with another GIM member and we exchanged addresses. To my surprise, his address was just a few miles from where I lived for a long time before moving to Florida a couple of months ago. He buys a lot of his coins the same shop as I did and he knows my brother.

Small world.

Maybe the coincidence isn't a big as I imagine. Speaking with Jennifer of Discount Silver one day, she said that a significant percentage of her customer base had a mailing address of Marietta, Georgia, an Atlanta suburb where I lived.

I have been fortunate to spend quite a bit time in Georgia.
I have done business in Atlanta and Cherokee County and spent time in Savannah and the lake Lanier areas.
Many friends and business acquaintances have made the move down.

Georgia is top of my list when it comes time to finally flee the north.
Hope you have room for one more Yankee.

I think that was just a kind effort to make space for 1 more Yankee.

I get down to Georgia at least 2-3x/year. Mom (born in Douglas - Coffee County) & dad retired down to northern GA about 12 years ago. I recently spent a few days down in Douglas & Broxton (a funeral, unfortunately). As a kid, we always spent the summer months down in south GA, and I remember that time fondly (great fishing, huge bluegills / bream).

I picked up half a dozen bottles of cane syrup & about 10# of pecans while I was down there. None of that crappy corn syrup with a hint of cane syrup for me!

I always love driving down from "up north" along I75, seeing the sandy roads & pecan trees I recall from my childhood when we get south of Macon.
